Wake Up Youth

“The youth are the hope of the fatherland.” This is the statement commented by Dr. Jose P. Rizal during his existence in the history of our country, encouraging the youth to participate in the political aspect in our society. But what can you say about the youth today? Are we still the hope of the fatherland? Are we still proud to represent the youth that had been described by Rizal in his statement or we are just an expression of hope that can no longer be realized?

Well, sad to say that the Filipino youth today are not anymore observant to what is happening in our society, like in our school. We have that attitude of “I don’t care”. I do not know if you even question yourselves, “where the money goes? Where is the money from my fines?” it is because sometimes, we just leave it for nothing. What we have in mind is that, it is not our concern.

In addition, we Filipino youth are already exposed to corruption especially for those who are holding a position in the political side, like the SK officers. They are trained by the higher officials in our country to be wise-to be wise in corruption. Well, I am not saying that all of them.

On the other hand, there are still Filipino youth who can be considered as the hope for the future generation; those youth who are capable of controlling their selfishness. But there

Only few of them because most of us are still sleeping from the reality of what is happening in our country.

This is the time for us to wake up. This is the time for us to stand for our own principles in life, a time to prove to the world that we are still the hope of tomorrow! Do not let yourself living in this world saying, “if only!”.
